My installation gets stuck and doesn't complete

It sounds like something may have gone wrong during a previous installation attempt.

To fix this problem, you must close any instances of Disk Cleaner that may be in your computer's memory.

To close Disk Cleaner, please follow these steps:

  1. Hold down the following three keys in this order: CTRL + ALT + DEL. This will launch your "Task Manager" window.

  2. Click on the "Processes" tab at the top of the "Task Manager".

  3. Under the "Processes" tab, you will see a list of all running programs. Look for "DiskCleaner.exe" then do the following:

        a. Right-click over "DiskCleaner.exe" once. It should become highlighted and a sub-menu of options should appear.

        b. Select "End Task" or "End Process" on the sub-menu to close the program.

  4. Close "Task Manager" by clicking the red "x" located in the upper-right-hand corner.

  5. Reboot your computer.

  6. Re-install Disk Cleaner by clicking the link below:

Activation Questions

I purchased Disk Cleaner but have not received my Activation Key

After you complete your purchase, you should be taken to the order confirmation web page and also receive a confirmation e-mail that contains your Activation Key for your records.

In many cases, Disk Cleaner automatically activates the full version of the software for you.

To determine if Disk Cleaner is activated please follow these steps:

  1. Open Disk Cleaner.

  2. Click the "About" button located at the top of the program.

  3. Examine the "Status" field. If it reads "Activated" you will see your Activation Key.

I received my Activation Key but, every time I try to activate, Disk Cleaner asks me to purchase again

To activate Disk Cleaner, please follow these steps:

  1. If a scan is running, click the "Stop Scan" button.

  2. If any prompts from the program are open, close them.

  3. Click the round green "Activate Now" button located at the top of the Disk Cleaner program (it appears to the left of the "About" and "Help" buttons). A screen will pop up and ask you to enter your Activation Key.

  4. Enter your Activation Key exactly as it appears in your confirmation e-mail, then click the "Activate Now" button.

My Activation Key does not work

Please check your Activation Key and try re-entering it.

Note: Activation Keys are specific to each product and cannot be used in another product. Please make sure you are entering the Activation Key for Disk Cleaner from SafeApp Software, LLC and not an Activation Key for a product from another company.

Note: Our Activation Keys are 8 digits long and contain numbers only. They do not contain dashes or letters.

You can type your Activation Key manually or you can copy and paste it by following the steps below:

  1. Highlight your Activation Key with your mouse (e.g. hold down your left-mouse button then drag your mouse over your Activation Key).

  2. Copy your Activation Key by holding down the "CTRL" key on your keyboard then press the "C" key at the same time. Alternatively, you can also copy by clicking the "Edit" option in the toolbar located at the top of your screen then selecting "Copy".

  3. Click your mouse in the "Activation Key" field in Disk Cleaner.

  4. Paste your Activation Key by holding down the "CTRL" key on your keyboard then press the "V" key at the same time. Alternatively, you can also paste by clicking the "Edit" option in the toolbar located at the top of your screen then selecting "Paste".

After you enter your Activation Key, click the "Activate Now" button.

I don't see the green "Activate Now" button at the top of Disk Cleaner

The reason the green "Activate Now" button is no longer visible is because the software is already activated.

To confirm that Disk Cleaner is activated, please follow these steps:

  1. Open Disk Cleaner.

  2. Click the "About" button located at the top of the program.

  3. Examine the "Status" field. If it reads "Activated", the program is running in the full version mode.

How do I open Disk Cleaner?

You can open Disk Cleaner by double-clicking its icon on your Windows desktop (look for the icon that has the name "Disk Cleaner" beneath it).

Note: If you don't see the icon on your Windows desktop, you can also open the program by doing the following:

  1. Click the "Start" button located in the bottom left-hand corner of Windows.

  2. Select "All Programs" (appears directly above the "Start" button when you click it).

  3. Select "Disk Cleaner" from the menu that appears.

  4. Click on "Disk Cleaner".

How do I stop Disk Cleaner from starting every time I turn on my computer?

To stop Disk Cleaner from automatically starting, please follow these steps:

  1. Click the button in the left-hand menu labeled "Program Settings".

  2. Uncheck the box next to "Load Disk Cleaner When Windows Starts".

To use the program you will have to start it manually by double-clicking its desktop icon.

You can manually open Disk Cleaner by double-clicking its icon on your Windows desktop (look for the icon that has the name "Disk Cleaner" beneath it).

Note: If you don't see the icon on your Windows desktop, you can also open the program by doing the following:

  1. Click the "Start" button located in the bottom left-hand corner of Windows.

When I click buttons in Disk Cleaner nothing happens

Disk Cleaner gives me a run-time error

To fix your run-time error, please uninstall Disk Cleaner by clicking here to follow the uninstall instructions.

After the uninstall is complete, reboot your computer (rebooting is an important step - please do not skip this).

Then install the latest version of Disk Cleaner by following these steps:

  1. Click the link below to download Disk Cleaner

  2. When the download completes, click the 'RUN' button or click on the Disk Cleaner file.

  3. Follow the installation prompts to install Disk Cleaner.

I uninstalled Disk Cleaner but the program still appears after reboot

It sounds like something may have gone wrong during the uninstall process.

To fix this problem, you need to re-install the software, make sure the Disk Cleaner program is shut down, and then uninstall the program.

To re-install Disk Cleaner, please follow these steps:

  1. Re-install the software by clicking the link below:

  2. When the download completes, click the 'RUN' button or click on the Disk Cleaner file.

  3. Follow the installation prompts to install Disk Cleaner.

Automated checks occur when the "Activate Updates (recommended)" box is checked on the "Updates" screen.

    Note: You can manually check for updates at any time by clicking the "Updates" button located at the bottom of the left-hand menu, then clicking the "Check For Updates" button.

  2. If you have a firewall, it may be blocking Disk Cleaner from connecting to the License Server. In your firewall, please make sure "DiskCleaner.exe" is allowed access to the Internet. You may also try closing and reopening Disk Cleaner.
